Trial production of 100000 tons of ion exchange membrane caustic soda project
Yunmeng Salt Chemical takes the lead in the industry
Hubei Daily News (Reporter Song Zhongcheng, Correspondents Chen Qun, He Lianhua) On August 29th, Hu Shengwen, Chairman of Hubei Gehua Huaxiang Chemical Co., Ltd., introduced that after the trial production of Huaxiang Chemical’s Phase I project with an annual output of 100000 tons of ion-exchange membrane caustic soda on August 15th, the caustic soda order has reached 10000 tons.
The Huaxiang Chemical project, located in the Yunmeng Salt Chemical Circular Economy Industrial Park, has a total investment of 1.5 billion yuan and will be constructed in two phases. One phase of the project has an investment of 500 million yuan, introducing the world’s most advanced ion membrane alkali production technology, with an annual output of 100000 tons of ion membrane caustic soda. It can also produce 50000 tons of chlorinated benzene, 55000 tons of hydrochloric acid, 98000 tons of chlorine gas, 30 million standard cubic meters of hydrogen and other chlor alkali products, with an output value of 1 billion yuan and a tax revenue of 60 million yuan. Ionic membrane caustic soda is produced by electrolyzing saline solution using ion exchange membrane method. It is an important chemical raw material widely used in industries such as chemical, new energy, textile printing and dyeing, papermaking, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, electronics, etc.
Yunmeng Salt Chemical Circular Economy Industrial Park is the only two type demonstration zone for salt chemical industry in the Wuhan urban circle. Relying on the Salt Chemical Circular Economy Industrial Park and the two major salt production enterprises, China Salt and Guangzhou Salt Blue Sky, Yunmeng County leverages its abundant rock salt resources and introduces Hubei Gehua Huaxiang Chemical Co., Ltd. to cultivate a leading player in the development of the salt chemical industry. The completion and operation of this project has achieved deep processing of rock salt, filled the gap in caustic soda production, and elevated the leading position in the county’s salt chemical industry chain.
Led by Huaxiang Chemical, Yunmeng has transitioned from single salt production to salt chemical industry, extending the salt chemical industry chain. The head of the construction command center for the salt chemical circular economy industrial park in the county said that the overall plan of the park has passed the review, with a total planned area of 16.8 square kilometers and more than 300 million yuan invested in improving facilities such as sewage treatment plants. At present, the park has introduced 28 upstream and downstream salt chemical projects settled in Huaxiang Chemical, of which 17 have been completed.
Huaxiang Chemical’s by-product hydrogen provides clean energy for the development of hydrogen powered vehicles in Wuhan. The trial production project of Hubei Gehua Huaxiang Chemical Co., Ltd. utilizes Yunmeng’s abundant rock salt resources to produce caustic soda and chlor alkali, generating a large amount of by-products – chlorine gas and hydrogen gas. The industrial park has introduced a new project, which is a joint venture between Gehua Group and Wuhan Institute of Environmental Protection to produce hydrogen gas. The park has also introduced enterprises such as Jinji Chemical and Huaxin Organic Silicon to produce drugs and new organic silicon materials using chlorine gas.
